“It is necessary to have “watchers” at hand who will bear witness to the values of Tradition in ever more uncompromising and firm ways, as the anti-traditional forces grow in strength. Even though these values cannot be achieved, it does not mean that they amount to mere “ideas.” These are measures…. Let people of our time talk about these things with condescension as if they were anachronistic and anti-historical; we know that this is an alibi for their defeat. Let us leave modern men to their “truths” and let us only be concerned about one thing: to keep standing amid a world of ruins.” ― Julius Evola, Revolt Against the Modern World: Politics, Religion, and Social Order in the Kali Yuga.

“We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. There is no other way. Our duty is to hold on to the lost position, without hope, without rescue, like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who died at his post during the eruption of Vesuvius because someone forgot to relieve him. That is greatness. That is what it means to be a thoroughbred. The honorable end is the one that can not be taken from a man.” ― Oswald Spengler, Man and Technics: A Contribution to a Philosophy of Life.

Essays in Satanism: Soon to be Discontinued

As stated previously, the hardcover ed. of Essays in Satanism will be taken off the market on Walpurgisnacht (April 30) 2013. The paperback will be available until at least then or until I put another book out, at which time it will be taken off the market. I am still working on more than one project, none of which will be in the same vein. I am no longer interested in writing on the subject or in being constrained to relate everything back to the same set of ideas or philosophical positions, many of which have been abandoned at this point.

When I see photos of my book on peoples personal bookshelves next to books by Ayn Rand, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, The Amazing Randi, etc. I know I have done something wrong that needs to be corrected. I am not with that program at all.

For the time being both versions of the book are still available here:

Obviously such is your prerogative, Magister Sass, but many who purchased and actually READ your work did not do so just to have another token in their "atheism+" collection to take pictures of and say "LOOK HOW EDGY I AM."

It bothers me deeply that your work has been taken as such. For whatever that it's worth I've lurked Cosmodromium for years and this will probably be the only time I post on it. Your views and mine are radically different on many things, and I know you don't give a shit so I spectate, but this post actually bothered me.

Frankly, the elements you went into in critique of pidgeon-holed "ideologism" and instruction in the "proper" way to read, along with the trivium of education, was something I was not privy of before and I give it more credit than any of "education" at college.

Not to give idle praise and flattery bullshit, but on my shelf: it's a tattered, yellowed, full of margin notes(something I didn't do before I read it)and barely resembles a book at this point.

Maybe some people did take something more out of it -- or maybe I missed it too and am wasting your time in my haphazard suggestion not to discontinue it. But it was a fucking good read and better than any self-congratulatory atheism+ bullshit any of those other authors wrote.

My decision has more to do with the content of the book than annoying misappropriations of it. Maybe I'll repackage some of the material and keep it available in that form. Most of the material on self-education is available scattered in books by other people.

For my part, it's hard to imagine you getting constrained by the title or even feeling it. I hope that the limitations you found don't stop you from publishing something though, I'd much rather see you publish a book or even pdf of extensive writings whatever they be than a select few tailored for satanists. We have two copies of Essays but it's your thoughts we enjoy, not just 'your thoughts on satanism'. Shade and I would both be very sad to miss out on a more freeform collection.

I'm actually doing a massive amount of writing. It just has nothing to do with Satanism and would be completely misguided for anyone to strain it into relationship.

On the flip-side I have a lot of writing on Satanism from the past that is probably going to hit the trash bin.

Another factor is my near total ambivalence about "sharing", aside from the extra money it brings in which I invariably spend on more books.

I'd offer a barter for the wastebin material if I had anything to offer in exchange, but I don't remember you being particularly into science fiction. Regardless I'll be buying a copies of "Essays having nothing to do with Satanism" if and when available. Cosmodromium has proven a real pleasure in the meantime.
