“The so-called 'Left-Hand Path' - that of Kaulas, Siddhas and Viras - combines the... Tantric worldview with a doctrine of the Übermensch which would put Nietzsche to shame... The Vira - which is to say: the 'heroic' man of Tantrism - seeks to sever all bonds, to overcome all duality between good and evil, honor and shame, virtue and guilt. Tantrism is the supreme path of the absolute absence of law - of shvecchacarī, a word meaning 'he whose law is his own will'." ― Julius Evola, The Path of Cinnabar.

“It is necessary to have “watchers” at hand who will bear witness to the values of Tradition in ever more uncompromising and firm ways, as the anti-traditional forces grow in strength. Even though these values cannot be achieved, it does not mean that they amount to mere “ideas.” These are measures…. Let people of our time talk about these things with condescension as if they were anachronistic and anti-historical; we know that this is an alibi for their defeat. Let us leave modern men to their “truths” and let us only be concerned about one thing: to keep standing amid a world of ruins.” ― Julius Evola, Revolt Against the Modern World: Politics, Religion, and Social Order in the Kali Yuga.

“We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. There is no other way. Our duty is to hold on to the lost position, without hope, without rescue, like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who died at his post during the eruption of Vesuvius because someone forgot to relieve him. That is greatness. That is what it means to be a thoroughbred. The honorable end is the one that can not be taken from a man.” ― Oswald Spengler, Man and Technics: A Contribution to a Philosophy of Life.

Good Questions about Deep Satanism and Project Faust

I've been recieving some good questions (email above). This message is worth replying to here for general clarification.

I am curious to know that if there will be a line drawn between the Satanists who just study the core materials and claim themselves as Satanists as opposed to those who take the materials from Project Faust and utilize them to their fullest potential. Obviously stratification has its place but then comes the real question, will a true Satanist by nature to to the conclusion and take up the materials of Project Faust and grow or shoot themselves in the foot and be exploited by the more adapted Satanist? Would it be inaccurate for one who takes up the materials of Project Faust and claim themselves as a Faustian Satanist?

I’ve tried to make clear in the book and comments elsewhere that “Deep Satanism” and “Project Faust” are not distinct types of Satanism but just convenient labels for different styles or degrees of Satanism. When I say “degrees” I mean as in “degrees of depth” and not as in college degrees or degrees in some secret society.

As Dr. LaVey once further justified his use of the term “Satanism” for his philosophy because it was stimulating and creative work was always better under stimulating conditions, likewise the terms “Deep Satanism” and “Project Faust.”

I’m inclined to think of or refer to someone as a “Deep Satanist” insofar as they are familiar not only with the basic materials overtly produced by leaders of the Church of Satan, but also with the underlying foundation-works; books, films, music, art, etc. and understands the connection. “Deep Satanists” existed before I coined the term, and would exist if I had never coined the term. Coining the term was probably intended to stimulate more Satanists in that direction because it makes for better Satanists which is better for Satanism. The tradition is resting on a goldmine of interesting material and I’m a little sick of seeing people just sort of coasting along without taking it to the next level. This is something a Satanist should do purely for their own gratification, because it is gratifying, and not in the hopes of garnering recognition or promotion within the organization.

I use the terms “Faust” and “Faustian” in the conventional sense: (adj) Faustian (pertaining to or resembling or befitting Faust or Faustus especially in insatiably striving for worldly knowledge and power even at the price of spiritual values) "a Faustian pact with the Devil" (Source: Princeton online dictionary). And of course “Faustian” can apply to anyone of that disposition whether they are a Satanist or not. “Project Faust” was likewise intended to push people in that direction and provide them with the rudimentary tools and directions to immediately use.

Mastering the materials of Deep Satanism and Project Faust doesn’t automatically make someone a superior Satanist. There are and will be superior Satanists who spend very little time with the material or with their nose in books, watching films, etc. because they are busy driving their own life home in another manner. On the flipside, a natural born loser can still “master” all the trivia associated with Deep Satanism and Project Faust and still be a natural born loser. Also, innumerable non-Satanists are “Faustian” in the truest sense of the word. The “Project Faust” concept is for anyone who finds it useful regardless of their orientation, although my primary target-audience is Satanists because of my personal history and close involvement with the religion and the Church of Satan.

Another thing I tried to make clear in the introduction to Project Faust, is that there are many tools and many different structured approaches to systematic self-education in all fields of knowledge.

It was also my intention to address people who are working outside the structure of formal educational systems and institutions, even if they are also involved with them.
